My name is Monae Dale and I am the creator of BlackGirlsAbroad. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing services to individuals with mental illness, I have learned the importance and value of self care. Lack of self care can lead to depression, stress, burn-out, and long lasting affects to our physical health.Upon this realization, traveling has become one of my go to’s for mental, physical and spiritual self care. Traveling makes me feel exhilarated but at the same time at peace, I feel like I am on a high during the entire trip! When I return from traveling abroad, I always immediately look to plan another trip to bring back that feeling. I wanted to replicate this feeling for others and thus, BlackGirlsAbroad was formed! BlackGirlsAbroad was created as a way of combining my love for travel with my great planning and organization skills, as well as catering to the unique needs of those who look like me. As Black women, we tend to take care of everyone else first, but It is important to prioritize us!
